Why Host Dry Beats Steam Cleaning

Jul 2026 · By Michaels Carpet Care

Steam cleaning soaks your carpet with hot water and detergent, then relies on extraction to pull most of it back out, but not all of it. That leftover moisture is why steam-cleaned carpets can take 12 to 24 hours to dry, and why sticky detergent residue attracts dirt again within weeks.

Host Dry low-moisture technology takes a different route. It uses only about 10% of the water steam cleaning does, working a fine cleaning compound deep into the fibers to lift dirt, then extracting it. Your carpet comes out clean, fresh, and nearly completely dry in 1–2 hours.

For families with kids, pets, or allergies, that speed matters. No soggy floors to keep everyone off of, no lingering damp smell, and no harsh chemical residue on the surfaces your family touches every day. It's the reason we've built our whole carpet service around it.
